HRSG 2023
Artwork Submission:
Hampton Roads Student Gallery 2023 invites 11th and 12th grade students from across Hampton Roads to submit one work of art to our regional student art show. This year, we are requiring Digital Submissions AND In-Person Artwork Drop-off. Artwork information and digital images should be submitted through this link on or before Saturday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m. Physical Artworks should be dropped off at the Chesapeake Central Library (298 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake Va. 23322) between 9 and 11am.
Awards Reception: Saturday, February 4th, 10:00am-11:00am
Artwork Pick Up: Saturday, February 4th between 11:00am- 12:00pm.
ALL entries must be picked-up on this day from the Chesapeake Central Library (298 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake Va. 23322). Selected FINALISTS and HONOREES must agree to deliver and pick-up their artwork to and from the VA MOCA or The Chrysler Museum of Art for their final exhibitions. Additional information and dates of exhibitions will be shared with the award winners.

Submission Guidelines
Photographing Your Artwork for Submission:
The image should be at least 300 DPI. You can find this information by right clicking on the image file and selecting Properties. Save your artwork image on your computer as “HRSG [Your Last Name]” prior to uploading through the digital form.
Artwork Size Requirements:
2-dimensional entries must be no larger than 36 inches by 36 inches to the outside dimensions of the frame or mat. 3-dimensional entries cannot exceed 30 inches by 30 inches at the base and cannot exceed 72” high, including the base or pedestal.
Presentation Requirements:
• All 2-dimensional artwork, except for paintings on stretched canvas/ board, must be mounted to foam, mat board or cardboard and ready for display.
• Framed work is strongly discouraged. Space and supports for hanging framed work are limited.
• 3-dimensional work must have secure base or footing so works do not easily tip and should be ready for display.
• Do not attach labels or ribbons to the front of the piece or underneath the glass or Plexiglas, they will be removed for judging.
• If work is abstract in design, please indicate on the back of the piece which side is up by indicating with an arrow.
• In case tags become detached, please place your name/ phone number on the back of 2-D work or on the bottom of 3-D work

Artwork that has been plagiarized will not be eligible for judging or display. Student Gallery may or may not accept a student’s work depending on how the original form has been altered and the student’s intent in regard to image use.)

Awards
Cash awards are given to the three FINALISTS: 1st place receives $500, 2nd place receives $300, and 3rd place receives $100. A Community Choice Award will also be given this year for $250.
Three works receive honorable mention and will be showcased with the (3) finalists at the Chrysler Museum of Art from March 10- April 30. The 20 honoree and community choice award works will be exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art from February 16 - 26.
